Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations
June 12–28, 2026
Ain’t Too Proud is the Tony-winning, electrifying musical that follows The Temptations’ extraordinary journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Featuring their signature dance moves and unforgettable harmonies, this musical takes audiences behind the music: how the group formed, the unprecedented chart-topping success they achieved (42 Top Ten hits, 14 #1 singles), and the personal and political tensions that threatened their unity during a turbulent era in America.
This thrilling story of brotherhood, family loyalty and betrayal is set to the beat of the group’s treasured hits, including “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and so many more, with a book by award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau (Skeleton Crew, Paradise Blue) adapted from Williams’s 1988 memoir. The New York Times praised the show as, “Pretty close to perfect”, with The Washington Post proclaiming it was “Dazzling and Electrifying.”
Ain’t Too Proud is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
