Transcendence Theatre Company® is a 501(C)(3) theater arts nonprofit whose mission is to create extraordinary experiences that inspire all to live life to the fullest in Sonoma County and beyond. We champion the life-affirming power of live musical performance to uplift our community and help change lives for the better.
Transcendence Theatre Company® is California Wine Country’s premiere live entertainment experience for 13 years and counting, featuring artists from Broadway, National Tour, major films, and television.
With a $3.2 million operating budget, our mission extends far beyond our Broadway-quality entertainment. Transcendence’s visionaries, Amy Miller and Brad Surosky, have created a performing arts company where every person can discover the transcendent artist inside themselves. As Creative Vision Director and Executive Director, they manifest this vision through live performance, arts education, and community engagement programming that helps everyone live their best lives. Our profound community impact includes hosting 625 kid campers, inspiring 11,500 youth through our artist education programs, hiring 100+ apprentices, producing 170 community engagement projects, donating 8750 tickets, raising over $750,000+ for Jack London State Historic Park and other nonprofit partners, and of course, entertaining over half a million audience members since inception.
Led by our Board of Directors, we prioritize community impact through these three programs:
- Broadway Under the Stars: To provide joy to the widest cross-section of our community with Broadway-quality performances, ensuring at least 40% of our tickets are priced at $50 or less.
- Transcendence Arts Education: To engage over 500 young people annually in the performing arts through our summer camp, internships, one-day workshops, and year-round performance opportunities.
- Transcendence for All: To make theater more accessible to all by working with youth in partnership with Mentoring Alliance and the Boys & Girls Club, and providing transcendent experiences to 325 members of our community who are historically and systemically marginalized in partnership with CarePartners Initiative, Sweetwater Spectrum, and more….. each year.
Transcendence has earned Candid Guidestar’s Gold Badge for financial transparency in our operations.

Ticket revenue covers only 38% of our annual operating costs, which is why we rely heavily on the generosity of our donors to achieve our mission.
