Transcendence = Extraordinary Experience

The dictionary definition of Transcendence means “lying beyond the limits of ordinary experience/exceeding usual limits” and to “rise above or go beyond.”  At Transcendence Theatre Company® we believe life is art and our aim is to create extraordinary experiences that inspire people to live life to the fullest.

Every person walks into a theatre with their own story. They bring with them a vast scope of emotions from happiness to sadness, frustration to excitement, and overwhelm to awe. We will never know the endless intricacies of a person’s story, but what we do know is that the extraordinary experiences we create have limitless possibilities to profoundly impact people’s lives. One night in our theatre could spark inspiration for someone to rise beyond a challenge, empower someone to dare to bring a new dream to life, or simply bring happiness to one’s day.  

Our hope is to share a burst of energy that people can take with them out into the world as they traverse the highs and lows of life. Transcendence aims not only to inspire but to empower everyone to unlock the artist inside themselves and reach higher in every aspect of life.

When you perform at Transcendence it is very important to know that you are a part of an ensemble. 

We produce unique musical revues featuring Broadway and Pop music. Prior to your arrival, you will receive notice of the potential songs you will be performing, but please understand that in our workshop process, things may change. You will be notified ASAP about any changes to your track.  Every production includes tight harmonies and dance/movement that is learned in a fast paced rehearsal environment. 

Our production of Beautiful is presented as an ACTORS EQUITY PRODUCTION (AEA) production. Please refer to the AEA website for details regarding in-person auditions in Sonoma and New York City.

Broadway’s Best Night Ever® and Ladies of Broadway are non-union contracts.

Our Broadway Under the Stars series is presented in a rustic outdoor setting in the Field of Dreams located two blocks away from the Historic Sonoma Plaza.  It is important to note that our theatre and pre-show experience is completely outdoors and you could experience a wide range of fluctuating temperatures during a contract at Transcendence.

Transcendence’s pre-show picnic plays a major part in the experience we create for our community. All of our artists participate in the pre-show picnic by connecting to our community through various forms. This includes: Greeting and Interacting with Patrons, Selling Wine Tickets & Merchandise, and helping at our Box Office.

With a deep belief that art is service, Transcendence is committed to bringing the energy of Transcendence to as many people as possible. From free performances to donating our time and talents in theatre camps and workshops, our full company plays a vital role in outreach that grows our relationship with the community.  Artists participation in  community outreach projects varies per contract. Details will be shared during the first day of orientation.

A few examples of past outreach projects include workshops and programs for the Boys & Girls Club, La Luz Center, Sweetwater Spectrum, Becoming Independent, and Social Advocates for Youth, 

At Transcendence we create experiences that bring our community together.  During your time with us you may be connecting with our community through various events including a family dinner and a pre-show picnic experience prior to the performance.  There are various events throughout the summer where select donors, sponsors, and members of our community get a glimpse of the artistic process by watching a select part of rehearsal and mingling with artists afterwards.

Skits Under the Stars is a free night of art and music designed to help the entire community come together to create together. Set in inspiring locations across Sonoma County, Skits Under the Stars encourages aspiring artists to bring their work to share, and help people achieve their own moment of transcendence.  Our artists hired for Broadway’s Best Night Ever® and Ladies of Broadway will participate in one evening of Skits Under the Stars during their contract and are also encouraged to share a song and shine with our community.

Transcendence Artists participate in a required orientation on the first day of work in order to ensure alignment on the culture, mission, and vision of the company and current production.

As a company we always start our rehearsals with 4 deep breaths and a 15-30 minute “Alignment”.  Our alignments are exercises that allow us to center our energy and start the day with inspiration.  Alignments can include positive quotes, discussions, meditations, group warm-ups, and more.  We strive to create an environment that reinvigorates our artists to view art as service.
