Transcendence Sponsors Program Alumni as Miss Sonoma County Teen, Running on the Platform of Arts Education

Written by Kaitlyn Yergenson

We’re having a proud parent moment here at Transcendence Theatre Company. One of our teen Senior Artists from the 2019 Fantastical Family Night production has been nominated as a candidate for the 2020 Miss Sonoma County Outstanding Teen scholarship program!

Brittney Talbot participated in our two-week-long summer rehearsal and performance process last year as a teen senior artist in what she says is “one of the absolute best experiences of my life.” Brittney, along with 20 other teenagers engaged in first-hand learning through rehearsals and workshops with theater professionals and then performed alongside a cast of Broadway performers for the 2019 production of Fantastical Family Night. Brittney states she “learned so much from the educators at Transcendence” and was inspired to further pursue her goal of bringing arts into school classrooms.

As a part or of the Miss Sonoma County Outstanding Teen scholarship competition, each candidate must select a Social Impact Initiative they are passionate about. Brittney’s platform is promoting theater education in schools. She says participation in theater has helped her learn responsibility, gain confidence, and grow valuable lifelong relationships. “I want this for more kids in my community.”

Transcendence Theatre Company is honored to sponsor our Senior Artist alumni for her role in supporting arts education in Sonoma County. We couldn’t be more proud the lessons from Transcendence are extending beyond our stage in Jack London State Historic Park. Break a leg, Brittney!
