AJ Ackleson is an experienced professional Teaching Artist and Performer with Transcendence Theatre Company, and provides theater arts training to low-income, high-risk youth in school and community settings. He is currently teaching a unique Arts Integrated Curriculum to Dunbar Elementary School English language learners grades 1-5! He has been performing and educating with TTC since 2017. He was a Featured Soloist and Dancer in Fascinating Rhythm (TTC 2017), Featured Soloist and Dancer in Shall We Dance and Featured Soloist in the Gala Celebration (TTC 2018) and a proud Teaching Artist member of the inaugural Mobile Unit (TTC 2019). His passion for equitable arts education began in New York City (2019) when he experienced the life-altering effects of theatre arts for schools in need. He joined a company called Inside Broadway that worked in and after school hours teaching arts programming and directing shortened musical performances over a period of 3 months. Ackleson earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Theatre Performance at Shenandoah University. After graduation, Ackleson performed in live theater and film, credits include: Peter Pan 360 (2015), Hello, My name is Dorris (2015), and Seasons of Love (2014) and was a resident at The Palace Theater in Manchester, New Hampshire. AJ grew up highly involved in Choir, A cappella, and Community theatre. These activities inspired him to pursue a career in the performing arts and now to inspire the next generation of artists. His passion for arts education has never been stronger and now, as a new resident of Sonoma County, he’s ready to uplift the human spirit around him.
